Wanted to take a moment and congratulate the Archbold Blue Streaks for an outstanding season on the volleyball court. Finishing the season ranked No. 2 in the state in Division III and advancing to the regional finals before dropping a heartbreaker to Huron is nothing to hang your heads about. I’m sure all of Archbold is proud of you and you should be proud of your accomplishment.

Another quick shout-out, this time to the Archbold Lady Blue Streaks who defeated Otsego in the Division III regional volleyball semifinals on Wednesday night. Archbold will face Huron in the regional finals on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Liberty-Benton High School in Findlay. Congrats Streaks and good luck on Saturday.

Wanted to remind all our loyal blog followers that No.-2 ranked Archbold is taking on Otsego tonight in Division III regional volleyball action at Liberty-Benton High School in Findlay, while Antwerp, Kalida and Columbus Grove will all be in action on Thursday at Elida in D-IV regional action. Don’t forget to cheer on the area girls.

With sectionals over, several area teams are looking ahead to the district semifinals. In Division II, Napoleon will face off against Celina on Wednesday at Liberty-Benton, with Ottawa-Glandorf set to play Eastwood in the nightcap. Division III will feature undefeated Archbold taking on Fort Recovery at Napoleon on Wednesday, with Parkway and Evergreen waiting in the wings. The Division IV district tournament kicks off on Tuesday with Kalida facing Lima Perry at Lima Senior, Antwerp taking on Pettisville at Napoleon, followed by Edon vs. Toledo Christian,and Columbus Grove playing McComb at Kalida followed by Ayersville taking on Van Buren.

I just wanted to take a minute and congratulate the Lady Bulldogs on a hard fought season. It was a season full of personal growth and teamwork. Not once did they ever back down or give up on themselves. They gave 110% every time they stepped out on the court. Great job ladies, you have much to be proud of!

LIBERTY CENTER — The Division II sectional finals at Liberty Center featured a doubleheader of Defiance taking on Eastwood and Napoleon facing off against Maumee. In the opener, Eastwood bested Defiance 25-21, 25-17, 15-25, 25-15, before Napoleon claimed the win in the late game 18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21 to claim a sectional championship.

Tuesday’s game featured Archbold having to play a fourth set for only the third time all year after Delta came back from an 0-2 deficit to claim match three. That means that in Archbold’s 18 wins so far this year, they have claimed a straight 3 set win in 15 of them! How solid are they going to be able to remain with the tournament season coming up when they will have to face the best of the best?
