League play begins for NWOAL ladies

7 December 2009 No Comment

Of course, the season is still young. But how about a look at the Northwest Ohio Athletic League after squads opened league play on Friday night.

Two of my preseason picks to battle for the crown, Archbold and Wauseon, were both victorious as the Streaks rolled to a 54-30 win over Delta and Wauseon defeated Patrick Henry, 63-37.

It was just the first game of the year for Archbold (1-0, 1-0 NWOAL) due to a long tournament run for the Blue Streaks’ volleyball team. At Wauseon (2-0, 1-0 NWOAL), the Lady Indians remained unbeaten while handing PH (2-1, 0-1 NWOAL) its first loss.

And speaking of NWOAL unbeatens, how about Liberty Center? A 43-27 win over Montpelier rolled the Lady Tigers to 3-0 on the season with a 1-0 record in the conference.

As the season moves on, it will be very interesting to see how this NWOAL trifecta will settle things on the court in addition to which teams could step up before the dust settles.

Good luck, ladies.
