A few observations

I’ve been biding my time, waiting for the high school boys basketball season to kick into high gear. Well, we’re a few weeks in now and I thought I’d throw out my two cents worth about what I think I know. (Truth is that’s not very much).
Well, here goes.
1. The Blue Streaks of Archbold are very good. They’re deep, they’ve got some size this year and they can play at both ends of the floor. If they can stay healthy, I think they will win the NWOAL and embark on a nice run in the tournament.
2. Even though they’ve only played one game, I think Ottawa-Glandorf is another one of those teams that can have a special season once again. They lost some good players, but they’ve just reloaded there in Putnam County. Anybody up for a D-III showdown at regionals between the Titans and Blue Streaks?
3. Kalida is another team to keep an eye on. Yes the Wildcats lost to Archbold, but they bounced back nicely with a big road win over a very good Pandora-Gilboa squad on Tuesday.
4. I’m still uncertain about the GMC at this point. I saw Tinora against Bryan last Friday and I think by season’s end they’re going to be pretty solid. Right now they’re just young and they miss Treg Lymanstall. Tinora lost to Bryan, then Bryan fell to Holgate the next night at Holgate. What does Paul Wayne have up his sleeve over there in Henry County? After that, I’m just going to have to see for myself who steps up.
5. How about those Hilltop Cadets? They have a big one on Thursday against Pettisville. The Cadets are 3-0 and looking to put the Blackbirds in an early hole in the BBC. Pettisville has won seven straight BBC titles and won’t got easily. I’m interested t0 see who comes out on top in that early showdown.
6. I don’t cover Defiance, but I think nobody in the WBL better sleep on the Bulldogs. The WBL looks very good this year with O-G, Elida, Celina and Defiance, Van Wert and Wapakoneta all off to fast starts. Can’t wait to see how that physical league shakes out.
Well, that’s all I have for now, I’ll keep putting my two cents in as the season goes along. Should be another great year on the hardwood for the boys in the Defiance six-county area.
