No-decision

26 April 2009 No Comment

Buffalo Bisons lefty starter and former Defiance High School standout Jon Niese earned a no-decision on Saturday in a 6-5 loss to Syracuse at Buffalo. Niese went 3 2/3 innings and gave up four hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out four and walking one. Niese is 0-2 on the season with an 8.44 ERA. Here’s what his manager Ken Oberkfell had to say after the game.

“He just lost command of his pitches,” Oberkfell said. “He was throwing the ball well. Next thing you know before you can get someone up [in the bullpen], it’s 5-4 just that quickly. I was pretty comfortable when we had a 5-0 lead with Niese pitching. If he wants to pitch at the next level, he’s got to be able to hold a five-run lead.”
